Next week I (Gloria) will be flying out with my family to Orlando, Florida. Twenty-five hours after we board the plane in Dubai we’ll be checking in to our hotel in Orlando. It will be quite the intercontinental trip!
But it’s going to be worth every single “Are we there yet?” and every adventure in airplane bathrooms with a potty training preschooler.
I’m excited to attend the first ever women’s conference hosted by The Gospel Coalition. I’ve been looking forward to this for quite some time now– Mommy needs a recess!
I can’t decide what I am most excited about. Many DK readers have mentioned that they will be in attendance, too. I can’t wait to meet you! The conference schedule is full to the brim of fantastic teaching. I’ll be doing some semi-live blogging from the sessions for DK readers. This article by our friend Luma Simms describes our blogging aspirations in more details. I’m also planning to bring the session content into discussions on this blog via multiple follow-up posts throughout the summer.
On Friday night of the conference I’ll be sharing alongside Lydia Brownback on a panel with Collin Hansen about the subject of women writing. Here are the details:
Women Writing: Perspectives on the World of Publishing – Online and Off
Friday, June 22nd, 9:00 p.m. | Gloria Furman and Lydia Brownback, hosted by Collin Hansen, Editorial Director, TGC
Write an article. Start your own blog. Publish a book. Learn and network with three experienced writers and editors.
It’s not too late to register for the conference! Are you planning to attend?

All I want to do is just smile after reading this:
Is it bad that I am leaving my kids and husbee behind, and coming with my own mommy?
Looking forward to meeting all your faces.
Can’t wait, Gloria! I’m praying for your session!
Aimee, I’m doing the same thing! I ‘m very excited to meet all of you.
I’ll be there! I can’t wait!
Me too, me too! I am so pumped I might not sleep tonight.
Sitting here in the breakout session you’re co-panelling. Looking fwd to reading your blog! Interesting and helpful. Thank you.
It was completely encouraging to listen to you at the conference. I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to fly half way across the world to make what might have seemed like a not-so-big impact the night you presented. What you may not realize is that there were those of us in the audience who NEEDED to hear exactly what God used you to say to us. That’s HUGE… and if He took you on a 23-hour flight just so that we would listen a little harder, well, that’s just evidence in the testimony: We serve a MIGHTY God.
