What’s your hurry? Wait, stop! Where are you g…
Hey, slow down! This is important. Those frantic thoughts can wait. Oh? They’re urgent and this is going to be a busy day, you say? Well, letting your worries lurch your heart back and forth like a rocking chair isn’t going to get you anywhere fast.
You certainly have time to consider this right now, and it looks like you’ve forgotten some things since you woke up this morning. Yes, I know you haven’t even opened your eyes yet. But a fraction of a second is all the time one needs to forget the most important things.
Take a tip from Psalm 103 and remember how good the Lord is. He Is Good! And he is good to you!
God has blessed you in Christ with every spiritual blessing. They’re not fake blessings like the fake brownies you made the other day that aren’t even fit for consumption because you substituted everything sweet for something awfully healthy. These spiritual blessings are really real, and they’re really, really good. And God has given every one of them to you in Christ!
Here’s one: Consider the magnificent grace of being predestined. God chose you for himself before you before you loved him. He chose you before you were ever aware of him. He chose you before you were born. He chose you before anybody was born. He chose you even though he knew you would be born into sin. And he chose you for a purpose—that you should be holy and blameless before him. Because of Adam you were born into sin, and because of Christ you were born again into his righteousness by faith.
God wasn’t grumpy about choosing you; he chose you in love to adopt you as his daughter through Jesus Christ. He is very pleased that he made you his daughter. Did you catch that, Self? God loves you! There was nothing dispassionate about God’s choosing you. And he did it to the praise of his glorious grace. Amazing, glorious grace.
You have every reason in the universe to entrust all the details of your life to your loving heavenly Father. He saw today before time even began. The Lord can take care of your worries today, as he has done every day and as he will ever do. Praise his glorious grace today!
